In 2009 - 2010, for a Department of Justice client, Conceras migrated over 400 server environments (five critical J2EE applications across entire lifecycle) from a larger, proprietary, vertical stack to a lower cost, commodity, and virtualized horizontal computing approach. The government client saved ~$5M over 3 years on server and operating system (OS) costs alone. Application performance increased 80 percent on average, due to high-speed grid computing, high throughput n-tier network architecture, and tuned Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS kernel. Conceras' prototyping and best practices design made 3rd party integration seamless, including: Oracle Application Server, Oracle databases and Real Application Clusters, IBM MQ, Endeca, and custom advanced search platform.
With virtualization, Conceras consolidated data center rack space 18:1; power and cooling reduction 2:1. Conceras has instituted strict virtual machine (VM) configuration management to industry standards and processes, creating ‘gold’ images. Conceras' automated VM provisioning techniques have reduced server builds and configurations from hours to minutes. Conceras' virtualization design and implementation made production migration non-disruptive, requiring minimal code and data changes. Conceras' high availability and disaster recovery approach has greatly improved application uptime and data protection, including a remote Continuance of Operations site.
